Canadian spirits
No, I'm not talking about Canadian Club whisky made just down the street from my hotel ;^)
Two visitors arrived from China on Monday and they came with the notion that they must get maple sugar candy while visiting our call center in Windsor, Ontario. That sweet may exist in eastern Ontario and Quebec where there is a maple syrup industry, but we're striking our here in the southern-most point of Canada where we're more likely to find Lebanese shawarma. While driving the Chinese around on their quest, I spotted this over the top Halloween display and explained the commercialization of All Hallows' Eve or the Eve of All Saint's Day.

Windsor (Ontario) Ramada, 8th flr view
The Canadian end of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel terminates right below my hotel room. The Canada Immigration building is in the lower right of the pic below, but more importantly to any friend of mine, there's Tunnel BBQ directly at the Tunnel exit. Talk about prime real estate, this culinary institution has been smoking on this site for 60 years. In the background of the pic is additional construction on Casino Windsor (operated by Harrahs). Locals wonder why the casino is expanding when Windsor's auto-related economy is already depressed and Detroit has just opened its 3rd casino, the MGM Grand, across the river.
The Detroit River, the US, and GM Renaissance Center are 2 blocks north of my hotel.
